What if we could support all Living Sky School Division schools with Land Based Learning? Perhaps we can!
Research shows that outdoor learning environments have mental health benefits, and help students develop a connection to the land through environmental awareness. Land-based learning in Living Sky School Division is an authentic act of Reconciliation. Students benefit from the opportunity to grow in their understanding of sustainable land practices and the impact this can have on their future. Not all students presently have this opportunity and those that do are limited. So, we asked ourselves, how could we be innovative and make this more equitable…
The 2023 campaign raised $5,342.00 to support a Land Based Learning Trailer. The trailer will be equipped with tools and materials and will be deployed to schools around the division. This will enable school staff and students to work with local knowledge keepers in their own area. Sherron Burns, Learning Consultant is heading up the project.
