School Community Councils
General Information
School Community Councils (SCCs) were elected or acclaimed in the spring of 2007. They work with schools to support the learning success and well-being of all children and youth. SCCs encourage and facilitate parent, community and youth engagement in school planning and the school improvement process. They may also play a role in advising the Board of Education on policies, programs and education service delivery. This could include, but not limited to, advice on such things as school facility and grounds, grade discontinuance and school closure, fundraising and school fees, and innovative local projects.
School Community Councils are generally made up of parents, community members, staff members and students. Please contact your local school principal if you have an interest in becoming part of the SCC.
*Note: Hutterian Schools and Associate Schools have their own form of governance and do not have SCCs.
