WHAT IS IT: We are looking for FIVE (5) students grades 9-12 that attend a school in Living Sky School Division to share their voice through self-assigned projects over the school year.  The collective will work together to come up with ideas, support one another and ultimately, as a group, represent student voices across Living Sky.  Though this is not paid work, students will be awarded a monetary gift upon completion of their assigned projects. 

TIME COMMITMENT: Student Voice Collective members will work directly with the PR/Advancement Specialist and be expected to attend up to TWO (2) in-person meetings (travel will be arranged) and monthly online team meetings spread between November-June of the current school year.  Projects will be designed by the students, in consultation with the PR/Advancement Specialist, and added to a project board where members of the collective can then pick 2-3 over the course of the year to work on. Scheduling of when projects are to be completed will be flexible and chosen by the students to fit their schedule/workload.  Work could include:

• a written article for a newspaper about a student selected topic related to school
• a social media takeover day where the student plans and creates several posts with photos and text to put on the school or division social media channels on a scheduled day
• a video written, filmed and produced by the student
• a series of images taken to enhance the school or division website
• design an event poster for their school
• or conduct an interview with a fellow student or teacher, etc. 

The opportunity is wide open for the Student Voice Collective members to create and choose projects they feel authentically allow them to share their experiences and perspectives.

Based on a student’s area of interest, this opportunity can provide basic training and skill development for the following communications areas:

• Writing for media/online
• Marketing
• Social Media Management
• Media Relations
• Graphic Design
• Photography/Video Production
• Website Content Development
• Campaign/Event Planning
• Presentation Development & Delivery
• Conducting Interviews 

MONETARY GIFT: A monetary gift will be paid in June. Students Voice Collective members are eligible to receive up to $500.  All projects must be completed before payment to the student will occur.

CHECKLIST ITEMS:

• 300-500 words on why you think you would be a good fit for the internship;
• Ensure you have parent/guardian permission to apply and that your parent/guardian have signed and submitted a media release form to the school;
• Contact information for one (1) character reference that is not an immediate family member (does not live in the same house as you).  A teacher, coach, employer, or close family friend would be examples;
